How to get to Cerritos Beach from Los Cabos airport

May 17, 2026

Los Cabos airport (SJD) is approximately 100 km from Cerritos Beach. The drive takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on traffic through San José and Cabo San Lucas.

The route

You leave the airport heading toward Cabo San Lucas on Federal Highway 1, then take Federal Highway 19 toward Todos Santos. Cerritos is just before Todos Santos, at KM 64-68. There is official signage on the highway.

Options

1. Rental car — The most convenient option if you plan to explore the area. There are agencies at the airport (Hertz, Avis, Alamo, plus locals). Note that to reach some hotels you'll need to drive short dirt roads for the last 1-2 km. SUV or crossover is ideal; a regular sedan works in dry season but struggles in rainy season (August-October).

2. Shared / private shuttle — Cabo Airport Shuttle, Suburban, and other companies offer transfers for $70-150 USD per person (shared shuttle) or $200-300 USD (private for up to 4 people). Book before you travel; last-minute options at the airport are expensive.

3. Taxi — Airport taxis are expensive and impractical for this distance. We don't recommend them.

4. Uber/DiDi — Works from the airport to Cabo San Lucas, but rarely accepts trips this long to Cerritos. If you find one, expect to pay $1,500-2,000 MXN.

What to do on the way

If your flight arrives early, it's worth stopping in Todos Santos to eat or walk around the center before continuing 15 minutes south. The town is 5 minutes from Cerritos and has good cafés, galleries, and the famous Hotel California.

Flying into La Paz instead of Los Cabos

Some travelers prefer flying into La Paz (LAP) because it's closer (1 hour 15 to Cerritos via Highway 19 north). The airport is smaller and quieter, but there are fewer direct flights.
